It seems Ferguson, Missouri residents are getting the message, STAY HOME.

Tear gas directed at unarmed peaceful protesters

Ferguson, Missouri, USA – After eleven days of unrest in the small community of Ferguson (20,000) a suburb of St. Louis protesters have finally made the decision to stay home because the large numbers of armed security forces and the National Guard.

It all started last Saturday when an unarmed 18-year-old black man was shot dead during the daytime in a residential street just off the main drag.

Not known when the murdered young man Michael Brown had a scuffle at a local variety store where he was seen on video tape allegedly stealing about $40 of cigars and strong arming (store video below) the store clerk while he was leaving the store.

He was eventually stopped by officer Darren Wilson (28) a six-year veteran of Ferguson Police P.D. who is now on paid leave. He has said he originally stopped them for walking down the middle of the street, but the officer then realized he might be the person the radio said had recently robbed (10 minutes earlier) a store of cigars. He got in a struggle with Brown and finally shot him dead with six-gun shots.

For some unknown reason The Furguson, Missouri Police Department website in down right now, and you can view it HERE, which is the Wikipedia website, and we don’t know when their home page will be open.

They may be hiding under their desks, but I think they are packing their bags, because I’m sure the force, 53 officers of which only 3 are black, will soon be shutdown and proper more trained officers will be brought in to stop  harassment of the fine residents of Ferguson.

Nazem Kadri of the Toronto Maple Leafs finally gets the respect he deserves, second hat-trick this year

It appears that Nazem Kadri has finally made a mark in the NHL and scored his second hat-trick this year, but the previous American management of Ron Wilson and Brian Burke tag team didn’t think he was worthy to play in the NHL. They have both been fired, thank goodness.

Kadri is now Leafs leading point leader

Kadri is currently sitting in sixth place in the NHL behind Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks, and there is still about 12 games to go before playoffs.

Go Leafs Go and maybe, just maybe we will see the playoffs for the first time in almost a decade.

Kadri even got the pleasure and endorsement of Don Cherry in the video above, with a kiss on the cheek as he did to Leaf favorite Doug Gilmour many years ago.

Let’s meet for lunch at ‘centre ice’ in the new Loblaws at Maple Leaf Gardens downtown Toronto

UPDATE: November/15 2012 – Tell me it’s not true, they painted over the centre ice spot? They should hang hockey sticks over it with RED LIGHTS a blazing.

UPDATE: August 13/2012 –  The grocery store is open, but now the ice-rink on top of MLG has announced it will open September 6-9, 2012. It will officially seat 2796 with many of the old seats from Maple Leaf Gardens.

It is open now and you can actually rent the ice ($300 hour) for a practice or a game, and then streetcar goes right to the door.

Toronto, Canada – The new Loblaws at Maple Leaf Gardens downtown Toronto is a breath of fresh air, for any grocery shopper. The red carpet and the wonderful band playing on the second level is gone, but the shopping will continue as thousands are still shopping.

I’m the furthest thing from a shopaholic and especially grocery shopping, but Loblaws has made the experience much more bearable at the renovated historic landmark.

The pleasant level of the background music, the friendly staff throughout the store from merchandise isles to the checkout, where they even bag your groceries.

One thing I was very disappointed in however, was the non-attention applied to the “centre ice” red dot signifying where the original face-off spot was for the Maple Leafs (one of the original six in the NHL) over the many years they entertained us. I looked and looked, and couldn’t find the red dot, and I even tried to place myself so I could estimate where it might be.

I expected a flashing red light, spotlights from every corner of the store, but no, just a twelve-inch red dot in the middle of isle number, oops I don’t want to destroy the excitement, you will have to look for it yourself. People were walking over it without looking and someone actually parked their shopping cart right on top of it, shameful. Maybe I’m getting a little too excited, but it seems like a big deal to me.

When people walked by as I took pictures many said “what’s he doing” but others would say, “It’s centre ice.” Why wouldn’t someone want a picture of one of the most exciting and historic places in hockey history anywhere.

Ryerson University ice rink on top floor of MLG, opens September 6-9/2012

Now I’m settling down and can now concentrate on grocery shopping and waiting for the next stage, when the new ice rink on the top floor of Maple Leaf Gardens opens September 6-9, 2012, for Ryerson Rams, who will play their home games for the Ryerson University, which will also include, Peter Gilgan Athletic Centre facilities just below the ice rink.

Maybe Loblaws overlooked the significance of the red dot and who knows, you may see a flashing light or a few hockey sticks hanging from the high ceiling as you walk through the store in the near future, we can always hope.

TD Bank closes all bank accounts for Iranian people, due to government sanctions against Iran

TRANSLATION – If you speak Persian CLICK HERE for full translation of BLOG.

Toronto, Canada – I’m not Iranian, I was born in Canada to freedom. and understand things can be very bad in Iran and the feud between USA and Iran has now hit Canadian-Iranians. What kind of message does that send to the world, we are puppets of the USA?

And is it all just propaganda, disseminated by the Americans.

They clearly came to Canada to escape the rule of the government looking for freedoms that we take for granted.

People that should be targeted are clearly the ones that send money to the regime, and just regular families having a bank account should not be targeted, by TD Bank or any other in Canada.

TD Bank is clearly discriminating against Iranian-Canadians and if this ‘rule’ was initiated in 2010, why is it happening now?

From what I know about Iranian-Canadians, they are honest, hard-working, friendly people and left Iran for many different reasons, but mainly to create a new and free life.

They deserve better than this and if I was a TD Bank customer, I would close my accounts immediately.

Anyone that closes an account based on Nationality, may be a violation of the Canadian Charter of Rights.

What will happen with other companies dealing with Iran, like Bell Canada, will they stop people from making calls to Iran, because they will be making money and so will Iran? It’ just not fair, and need to be addressed individually.

Don’t let TD Bank get away with this, it may mean more work by the banking industry, but closing bank accounts on the basis of where you are from, is not a valid reason in my opinion.

Toronto Maple Leafs new owners ‘change the focus to winning’ what a bunch of ‘Gobbledygook’

Toronto, Canada – Yes the MLSE (Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment) is about to be taken over by Rogers and Bell   in a deal struck last year when the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan sold their part of the organization for $ 3.1 billion.

But to suggest that they now plan on concentrating on winning and getting into the playoffs, is a real joke, to anyone who knows anything about the sports scene in Toronto.

MLSE own the Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Raptors, AHL Marlies, Toronto FC Soccer team, and the Air Canada Centre. It’s close to being one of the most successful sports franchises in the world, money wise, and yet have had very little success on the field or the ice recently.

The Leafs haven’t made the NHL playoffs since 2004, although the Toronto Marlies advanced and lost the AHL Calder Cup final just last year.

The Raptors haven’t been to the playoffs since 2007 when they won the NBA Atlantic division, and haven’t visited the playoffs since 2008.

This new concept ‘on winning’ seems a little, too little, too late.

But then the Toronto sports fans just put up with it, and keep buying the tickets, and keep watching and hoping for a winning combination.

Will it happen? We hope so, but hope is all we have to offer and yet the MLSE just keeps getting richer and richer. We haven’t seen a Stanley Cup since 1969 and still the Air Canada Centre is the most sold-out arena in North America.

UPDATE: Enough is enough, 1 dead 7 injured in Eaton Centre, Toronto as shots fired in food court. We need ‘Stop-and-Frisk’ law like NYC now

Toronto, Canada – Shots rang out in the basement food court at Toronto Eaton Centre in downtown June 2/2012, one is dead and seven injured. The shooter is still at large, but with all the cameras in and around the mall, it won’t be long before they are identified. Police seem to know who may have committed this terrible crime, but are withholding any information about the alleged suspect. This occurred at 6:30pm Saturday night with hundreds in the mall.

IMPORTANT UPDATE – What a small world, a young women who escaped safely from the Eaton Centre terror, was killed in the shootout in Aurora, Colorado today at the movie theatre. Her boyfriend Jay Meloff, who is a minor league hockey player lives in the Greater Toronto Area, and they were visiting the food court at Eaton Centre, minutes before the shootout.

See below for more …

This brings back memories of the terrible fatal shooting of  15-year-old Jane Creba on Yonge Street not far from the Eaton Centre on Boxing Day 2005.

In the shooting Saturday night a 25-year-old man was killed (name not disclosed) and a 13-year-old boy is in critical condition at hospital, along with six others. It occurred in the food court while the mall was packed with shoppers, and the people were evacuated immediately.

One pregnant women was knocked over as the crowd rushed from the mall and went into labor, however did not deliver the baby.

There are people running around with guns in our city. Maybe it’s time for us to bring in the NYC law where police are allowed to do ‘Stop-and- Frisk’ which is very controversial, but needed to stop these hooligans from walking our streets with loaded guns.

Even if one gun is found, it is worth it to save our citizens. The NYC law allows any police officer to stop anyone and search them for any reason, to see if they are carrying a gun.

The mall is closed today for further investigation, and unknown when it will re-open.
WHAT A SMALL SMALL WORLD

Jessica Ghawi (Redfield, 24) was visiting Toronto from Texas, during this terrible shooting, and had just left the food court at the Eaton Centre just minutes before the gun fire opened. She escaped with her life, and yet today she was killed in the horrible shooting at the Century 16 Theatre in Aurora, Colorado.

Twelve people were killed and over 70 shot as they watched the Batman movie, Dark Night Rises at 12:30 pm this morning. God bless her family, she will be greatly missed.

How does nuclear radiation affect animals?

Toronto, Canada
– Many of us are animal lovers, and we have heard very little about the effects of the nuclear radiation on the animal kingdom in Japan and near the Fukusima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. The focus is centred on the residents, but what about the animals? The devastation of the earthquake, tsunami and now nuclear radiation that hit Japan on March 11, 2011 has killed many and displaced thousands but we always seem to forget about the domestic pets and animals in the area.
The nuclear radiation from the nuclear meltdown at Fukusima Daiichi, Japan affects those that have survived this tragedy and that means animals too. It is estimated there are 30,00 domestic pets affected by this and many residents are bringing them to the shelters with them. There was a YouTube video that can be seen below of one injured dog standing by and protecting his friend as rescuers come to save the two. Although many forget about the animal kingdom, animal lovers from all over the world have been concerned for the domestic pets and wildlife and how the radiation will affect them if they have survived this incident.
Dr Joanna Coote, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the Toronto Humane Society took some time to explain how the radiation could have an impact on animals and wildlife that could have survived the tragedy.

“I guess it depends which animals you are referring to, so if we talk about dogs, cats, horses, cattle, pigs, goats, sheep those are all mammals, so the way that animals are affected by radiation will be quite similar to humans, they often worry about the cumulative radiation effect so that if you are exposed to certain levels of radiation over time they’re worried that there would be a cumulative effect of radiation that can cause dangerous levels.” said Dr. Coote.
“In animals they don’t really have a prolonged exposure to radiation, because they have such a short lifespan relative to humans,” she went onto say about farm animals, “If they are farming dairy, goats or chickens, it’s the issue with, one, the real exposure to radiation the way we get exposed in the atmosphere so there’s that exposure and then there’s the exposure they get from the vegetation that they are eating. And it’s also in the water, the runoff and the rain.”

“Birds and insects will be affected as well and they can spread the radiation as they fly miles from the danger zone but they have a very low life-span and then it becomes a problem for the food chain as the bird eats the contaminated insect or the bird eats a contaminated fish that’s a concern and then flies miles away and then the bird gets eaten by another predator and the cycle continues”

Tokyo, Japan – “Japan National Police Agency, on Tuesday (March 16, 2011) said, dead and missing has exceeded 12,000 and is expected to go well beyond this figure. Out of this number 4277 are confirmed dead with 2282 injured from the tsunami and earthquake, not including any that may die from nuclear radiation.

On Sunday (March 13, 2011), police chief of Miyagi, one of the prefectures hardest hit disaster, said the number of death toll is estimated at more than 10,000 in its own territory.” Story from WorldNews
Ontario Veterinary College spokesperson Barry Gunn said,

“There really isn’t anybody that can talk about your questions clearly, in general, the assumption is that any threat would be the same as it is for people, these animals might be exposed to radiation from food or water, some of the nuclear isotopes have a short half-life, and caesium has a half-life of 30 years so they disappear soon after exposure and I suppose the caesium will be around for a while in the soil.”

NEW UPDATE: – Luka Rocco Magnotta arrested in Germany Returned to Canada Monday, ending world-wide hunt

Please be WARNED and use discretion before you view this, still photograph of the victim Lin June, 33. The video was taken down after a few days but a still photo of the act is still visible HERE. Use Caution, very disturbing.

Best Gore: “The video is currently not available. I apologize for inconvenience.” It’s still there just harder to find, follow instructions on YouTube.

UPDATE: June 18/2012 – Luca Rocco Magnotta (29) returned to Montreal from Berlin by military transport and arrives back in Canada to face murder charges.

The plane landed in Montreal just after 7pm Monday, from 10-day world-wide warrant on Interpol and didn’t receive the fanfare he so deeply desires.

Lin Family still trying to cope.

UPDATE: June 5/2012 – Montreal police held a news conference this afternoon and announced Magnotta has waived extradition in a Berlin court today. He will now be returned to Canada to face charges related to this murder. It is unknown how long it will take for him to return, but it is expected it will be a couple of weeks.

There are also reports human remains have turned up at Vancouver schools, and not sure if they have any connection to the Magnotta murder case. Montreal police had said the body parts, head, hand and foot were still missing.

Berlin, Germany – Luka Rocco Magnotta, 29 was arrested at an cybercafé  in Germany for the murder of a student in Montreal.

He is accused of dismemberment of Chinese National student Lin Jun, 33, who was studying computer science at Montreal’s Concordia University. He was spotted in the internet café while he was surfing to read stories about himself. He tried to use another name when questioned but finally said “Okay, You’ve got me” to put an end to the international manhunt for his arrest. The self described “bisexual porn actor” went with the police for further investigation.

It all started last week when  body parts were sent to the head offices of the political parties in Canada. Further investigation by the Montreal police recovered a  torso in a laneway, and lead them to Magnotta’s apartment where the alleged dismembering took place.

Montreal police are on their way to Germany to start extradition process to return Magnotta back to Canada to face charges.

Police have admitted that the video of the murder does not show the identity of the person who murdered Jun, since the person was wearing a mask during the attack.

Three years ago a person who called themselves Luka Rocco Magnotta wrote a blog in Toronto HERE, on “How to completely disappear and never be found,” but it seems it does not work.

It seems to me this strange man just loves publicity and was revealed by using social media and has now been caught by using social media.
