CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia – George W. Huguely (V-5th) 22 at time of murder, was found guilty and sentenced to 23 years in prison for the vicious murder of his ex-girlfriend Yeardley Love, a 22-year-old from Baltimore, Maryland.

She was found dead in a blood spattered filled pillow in her room, May 2010 after being killed by Huguely after a night of drinking and fighting. Both were lacrosse players on the University of Virginia respective lacrosse teams. Huguely is originally from Chevy Chase, Maryland.

Huguely will most likely spend most of his time in prison, segregated and in protective custody. Prison will not be like summer camp.

His defence attorney had suggested a sentence of 14 years, but Circuit Judge Edward Hogshire disagreed and followed the direction of the jury and sentenced him to 23 years in prison.

He came from a privileged upbringing, going to private schools ($23,000 per year) and from a prominent family in Maryland.
