Toronto, Canada – Justice David Brown ruled this morning that the eviction order by the City of Toronto is valid and does not violate the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.  The campers at St. James Park in downtown Toronto have been ordered to vacate the park which they have been occupying for over a month and unless they appeal the ruling will be required to leave. We only hope when the police ask them to leave there is no resistance and they leave peacefully. Many have said they will not leave, but the police will win. It doesn’t mean the protest is over, but they must leave the park, without any violence.
UPDATE – 11am November 21/2011: The Mayor of Toronto Rob Ford made a statement where he said “They must move as soon as possible,” and just kept saying the same thing over and over. Many reporters tried to get a deadline but he would not answer, but insisted they must leave. It was reported on CP24 this morning and it is expected they should be gone by midnight tonight.
