Binders full of women – Fair pay for women, Mitt Romeys view, just not right

Hempstead,  New York – Things got hot and heavy last night in the second Presidential Debate at Hofstra University and Mitt Romney’s comment went viral on the internets.

But it seems only Romney’s comments got the attention but the ‘no answers’ from President Obama were overlooked. He never answered the question about why it took weeks before he said anything truthful about the terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya. Although Romney concentrated on Obama’s speech in the Rose Garden and not ask about why UN Representative Dr. Susan Rice made the rounds saying (best assessment) the attack was associated with a YouTube video.

ROMNEY: We took a concerted effort to go out and find women who had backgrounds that could be qualified to become members of our cabinet. I went to a number of women’s groups and said, “Can you help us find folks?” and they brought us whole binders full of women.

I was proud of the fact that, after I staffed my cabinet and my senior staff, that the University of New York in Albany did a survey of all 50 states, and concluded that mine had more women in senior leadership positions than any other state in America.

Romney blew it last night, but President Obama didn’t do much better trying to dodge the real questions.

It was later suggested by people who were in Massachusetts at the time Romney said he wanted the binders, that the women’s groups approached Romney about getting women in positions of authority.

Very interesting fact, Fox News-TV did not mention anything about the “binders full of women” why not? But they did spin it well on their politics page.

Electronic Device Storage in NYC while people just try to live out the day in the Syrian crisis

Different parts of the world have different lifestyles and concerns. While citizens of Syria try to live out the day, students in New York City (NYC) try to find a spot to store their cell phones.

All electronic devices are banned from most NYC schools and students now have the task of finding a place to ‘store’ their devices.

Are these new rules to come to Canada and other cities around the world?

Did the schools miss this one as an opportunity to make a few bucks, just open a storage facility in the school.

The current operators for storage include mobile trucks that park outside schools and local Bodega who do the same for $1 a day.

Meanwhile, back in Syria, children run for their lives and nothing is further from their minds, than cell phone storage.

TD Bank closes all bank accounts for Iranian people, due to government sanctions against Iran

TRANSLATION – If you speak Persian CLICK HERE for full translation of BLOG.

Toronto, Canada - I’m not Iranian, I was born in Canada to freedom. and understand things can be very bad in Iran and the feud between USA and Iran has now hit Canadian-Iranians. What kind of message does that send to the world, we are puppets of the USA?

And is it all just propaganda, disseminated by the Americans.

They clearly came to Canada to escape the rule of the government looking for freedoms that we take for granted.

People that should be targeted are clearly the ones that send money to the regime, and just regular families having a bank account should not be targeted, by TD Bank or any other in Canada.

TD Bank is clearly discriminating against Iranian-Canadians and if this ‘rule’ was initiated in 2010, why is it happening now?

From what I know about Iranian-Canadians, they are honest, hard-working, friendly people and left Iran for many different reasons, but mainly to create a new and free life.

They deserve better than this and if I was a TD Bank customer, I would close my accounts immediately.

Anyone that closes an account based on Nationality, may be a violation of the Canadian Charter of Rights.

What will happen with other companies dealing with Iran, like Bell Canada, will they stop people from making calls to Iran, because they will be making money and so will Iran? It’ just not fair, and need to be addressed individually.

Don’t let TD Bank get away with this, it may mean more work by the banking industry, but closing bank accounts on the basis of where you are from, is not a valid reason in my opinion.

Breaking News: Homs, Syria, two journalists are dead and why is it considered the ‘worst war in the world?’

Homs, Syria - It’s terribly sad these journalists have died, and they knew what they were getting into. But the reports from these journalists indicating that this is the ‘worst war in the world’ seems to be unfounded.

Marie Colvin, 55, of the London’s, Sunday Times (owned by NewsCorpFox)  and correspondent for CNN, was killed along with war photographer Remi Ochlik, 28, today in Homs, Syria. Many in the World remember Colvin for her identifiable patch over her left eye, which she lost during a conflict in Sri Lanka in 2001. The details of exactly how they were killed, has not been disclosed, but it seems they were hit by shelling today, as nearly 100 people are killed every day in Homs.

But the Government of Syria suggest these killings have been initiated by terrorists and they are NOT responsible for any killings.

Do they not remember Darfur, Sudan? Estimates from the UN say that 70,000 were killed by the Sudanese government but many put that even 4-5 times higher. How many more innocent children must die before the world steps up and does something? Will the genocide continue?

The people of Darfur wanted nothing more than freedom, and the Sudanese government has been accused of genocide in the killing and displacement of millions. To date the Syrian President, Bashar al-Assad’s regime has been accused of killing 4-5000 in the past year.

War is terrible no matter where it occurs, but sadly, the victims of war are truly the innocent, seeing a two-year old dying in the arms of their fathers, is the worst of the worst.

The world must step up and help these helpless people now. In Darfur and in Syria, and anywhere else it may occur. What is the reason that China and Russia denied to get involved in the Syrian conflict? Does it have anything to do with money?

Libya, Egypt, ‘We only want what you have’ and they can’t leave, these are their countries, they just want FREEDOM.

Toronto, CANADA How very sad, we hear about all the people from USA and Canada getting out of Libya, but what about those that cannot get out. Many have the resources to get the borders and go to Tunisia and other countries but what about those that must stay and accept this horrible regime forever.
One thing I never heard reported in the news, for either country was that the government would fall if the leaders left. This is not true, since in my opinion the governments are well run by the many departments and agencies that currently take care of day to day business. Yes there may be a need for fine tuning, but the reality is these countries have been operating well for many years.

Where is the United Nations, what are they waiting for, more bloodshed? They should move in immediately and get their peace keeping troops into this troubled area to help the citizens who have no where else to go.

I have no “horse in the race” I am just a regular Canadian concerned about these people, all they want is what most countries in the world want, and that is peace and freedom to choose their way in life. Is that really too much to ask? We must all help these people and not let this continue. Contact your local government representatives and let them know you are outraged at what is happening to these wonderful people and to their countries.
We can make a difference.

I hear people complaining that “Is this the only news story” yes it is, if this continues to happen without any intervention by the world community this could happen in any country, and this is not right.
