Toronto, Canada – Annaleise Carr, 14, made the 52.5 km swim across Lake Ontario, youngest teen ever to conquer this feat since Marilyn Bell in 1954 when she was only 18. Bell is now 73, and was on the rescue boats as she made her way across the lake.

Carr was raising funds for Trillium Camp, for children with cancer and succeeded in raising over $100,000 for her cause with donations are still coming in, her goal was originally to raise $50,000.

The swim started in Niagara-on-the-lake at 6:15 pm Saturday night and she endured the rough waters to make it to Marilyn Bell Park at the CNE grounds around 9:30 pm yesterday.

Carr’s attempt was to raise funds for the Camp Trillium which assists children with cancer, and her goal was to raise $50,000.

She will undoubtedly have some interesting stories to tell when she returns to school in September about how she completed such a wonderful accomplishment.
